21/August/2008 We are pleased to welcome Publius to join us as another co-blogger. He was aka’ college classmate and is aka’s colleague now. His master thesis is something about property rights and the law procedure along with something that is totally alien to us. We expect his participation will bring this blog more sharp and deep analysis of social and political issues. Certainly, after he starts his conscription this October, we anticipate more thoughts about the Army from him.
27/April/2008 Soldiers for Freedom is given a new name as Skeptics for Freedom. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, soldier has meanings of:
1 a: one engaged in military service and especially in the army b: an enlisted man or woman c: a skilled warrior
which is no longer suitable, since we were not soldiers any more and it implicitly indicates that we are ready for sacrificing life for freedom. “不自由毋寧死” (Give me liberty or give me death.) is never our motto.
Based on the same dictionary, skeptics means
1 : an adherent or advocate of skepticism 2 : a person disposed to skepticism especially regarding religion or religious principles
*skepticism:1: an attitude of doubt or a disposition to incredulity either in general or toward a particular object 2 a: the doctrine that true knowledge or knowledge in a particular area is uncertain b: the method of suspended judgment, systematic doubt, or criticism characteristic of skeptics 3: doubt concerning basic religious principles (as immortality, providence, and revelation).
January/2008 After 1 year, both of us were discharged from conscripted military service.
26/August/2006 Soldiers for Freedom is established by 2 rationals (based on Jung Typology Test ) who met each other in the army. It originally aims at disseminating the memes of freedom as well as rationality, and pointing out the fallacies that often used to legitimate conscription.
However, if we ever make the mistake of using fallacies or propose unthoughtful opinions, please let us now, for we will learn from your constructive criticism.
